- Tips And Tricks Of Food Plating.
In today’s blog we will be talking about the basic tips
and tricks to present a picture-perfect plate of food.
Got some tips and tricks up your
sleeves? Turns out quite favorable right? Knowing the tips and tricks of food
plating before actually plating the dish might help you immensely too.
Following are the tips to get your plate of food to look flawless...
0.1 TABLEWARE
Plate too small or big in
comparison with the amount of food? The colours of the plate and the food
clashing? Just doesn’t seem right, does it? Sometimes, you need to be
thoughtful and bold with your choices of tableware. Select the right shaped,
sized, coloured and textured tableware. It’s definitely going to pay off!
When looking at a plate of food,
the first thing your eyes should be drawn to is the main element whether it be
grilled steak or even something small like seared scallops. Just place your
supporting elements considerately and there you go you’ve hit the bull’s eye!
0.3 PLAYING WITH TEXTURES
Crispy, crunchy, tender, chewy
and creamy, brought together in one bite? A dream for every food lover! Arrange
your elements in a way to include all contrasting textures in every bite.
0.4 HEIGHT AND SCALE
Building height by stacking elements gives a structure to the dish providing visual impact making the dish more presentable.
0.5 COLOUR
Playing with colours while
plating a dish turns dining into a sensory experience. Bright colours, neutral
tones or contrasting shades give a splash of colour to your plate. To present the
dish in a single colour is also a current trend.
0.6 ODD NUMBERS
Odd numbers? Might sound odd but lack
of balance creates visual allure. Arrangements of three, five or seven bring
out the pictorial style you are opting for whether it be ravioli, vegetables or
cubes of protein for example.
Usage of micro herbs and edible
flowers can transform your dish from ordinary to exceptional. Although, make
sure that everything on your dish is edible!
0.8 LESS IS MORE
Sometimes, less components do
more to the dish than what several elements can do together. Cramming too many
ingredients might ruin your plate presentation. Got an unwanted element? Hit it
right out of the park!
